Check out the video tours. A personal favorite is the short, but striking tour of the Basilica of Maxentius. The video tour of the Colosseum includes a trip into the substructure and excellent cross-sections for architectural study.

Virtual Rome -- Italian Style
Why just go to Rome when you can go to Rome?
There have been lots of attempts at creating a virtual Rome. From text-based online hubs like V Roma to game-based concepts like Rome: Total War, we've been seeking Rome for some time now.
Now, the Eternal City itself has gotten involved in the search. I see a future in this sort of thing especially for teaching Roman architecture and urban planning.
